Intel’s announcement that it is committing $300 million over the next five years to promote the hiring of women and minorities in the technology industry was welcome news. Silicon Valley has taken heat lately over its lack of diversity. But it’s hardly alone. Arizona has the same problem. Look around the region’s executive and board suites and you’ll see far too few women and people of color. Intel is a leader in our region and across the globe. Arizona companies in all industry segments take note. Promoting diversity is the right thing for any healthy community, and it’s good business, too.
