The resignation of Glendale City manager Brenda Fischer came as a blow to many Valley business leaders, especially those in the tourism industry. Fischer was regarded as the calming influence between the city and NFL/Cardinals over Super Bowl issues. And she played a pivotal role in helping land next year’s college football championship game and 2017’s NCAA Final Four, delivering city commitments that were part of the package. Her collaborative spirit helped bring mega events to Glendale that benefitted all of Arizona. If we want more events like these in the future, we’ll need more people like Fischer in the game.
